1st National Competition for the Best Apple Dish at Madrid Fusión 2025 has been announced
Pink Lady® is calling for entries for the first edition of the Best Apple Recipe Competition. Whether you are a chef or a pastry chef, you are invited to put your culinary skills to the test by preparing a sweet or savoury recipe that highlights the organoleptic qualities of this unique apple, produced in an ecologically sustainable way in the regions of Lleida and Girona, with its exceptional aromatic richness, characteristic sweetness and great versatility in the kitchen. From savoury snacks to irresistible desserts, the possibilities are endless!
The winner will be announced after the live competition during the Gastronomic Summit at Madrid Fusion Pastry on 28 January 2025.
Until 8 December 2024, all professionals can take part in the competition by submitting the best recipe using Pink Lady® apples. 6 recipes will be selected by Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España to take part in the grand final of the competition at Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España 2025.
Entrants must submit a single recipe, accompanied by a technical sheet detailing the ingredients and preparation process, and a high-resolution photo (minimum 300 dpi) in .jpg format. It is essential that no chemical additives of any kind are used in the preparation of the recipe. In addition, extra points will be awarded if the recipe uses fresh apples and is easy to prepare at home.
This documentation must be sent by e-mail to csoriano@madridfusion.net (for the attention of Cristina), together with the entrant's identification details (name, e-mail address, telephone number and place of work).
The jury, made up of prestigious journalists, chefs and gastronomy and food specialists, will select a single winner who will receive a prize on behalf of Pink Lady®, consisting of a lunch or dinner for two at the Roca brothers' Esperit Roca restaurant in Girona, including food and wine pairing.
About Pink Lady®
Grown in Lleida and Girona, Pink Lady® apples are the result of the rigorous and passionate work of 70 Spanish producers who work on small plots of land and share the values of respect for the land and the time that these apples need to achieve a very special organoleptic quality. Thanks to its characteristic colour, crunchy texture and inimitable flavour, the Pink Lady® apple has become a unique variety, a source of inspiration for pastry chefs such as Jordi Roca - the youngest of the Roca family, who has created several Pink Lady® ice creams for his Rocambolesc shops - or Christian Escribà, chefs such as Joaquín Felipe and Pepe Solla, bartenders such as Diego Cabrera, Miguel Pérez and Nagore Arregui, and even fashion designers such as Beatriz Peñalver and Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, who designed a tote bag in the cheerful colours that characterise her work, with Pink Lady® as the main Pantone colour.
