Eat to win: high-performance nutrition in sports
Professional athletes receive information about performance, mental health and nutrition from multiple sources, including coaches, medical teams, specialised media and, increasingly, social media.
However, not all of this information is accurate or tailored to the athlete's specific requirements. In high-performance sports, decisions regarding nutrition, rest and mental preparation are made with the support of qualified professionals, so unverified advice could have an impact on performance or health. The aim of this roundtable discussion is to consider how these messages can be filtered, interpreted and communicated more effectively, ensuring that sports and scientific knowledge reaches the public in a responsible, realistic and useful way.
