Javier García

Founding Secretary General of World Central Kitchen

Javier García has been spending the last ten years providing emergency food relief around the world alongside José Andrés. His work at the head of the World Central Kitchen has earned him the recognition of the industry and the general public alike.

As a child, Seville-born Washington DC-based for more than 20 years Javier García wanted to be a cook. Although he ended up in the world of international sales and marketing instead, he has found himself surrounded by chefs, helping to feed thousands of people as Secretary General of World Central Kitchen.

After many years originally helping Spanish agri-food companies export globally, he moved to the US where, conversely, he helped Spanish food products make their way into American restaurants. As a Washington resident doing business in the restaurant sphere, he inevitably crossed paths with the chef José Andrés.

This is how he joined the World Central Kitchen project, which at the time had just one venue but José Andrés was eager to scale up. Javier has now been at the head of this NGO for ten years, responding to food crises across the globe.
