Junghyun Park
Chef at Atomix** (New York, USA)
Born in Seoul and now based in New York, Junghyun Park owns several restaurants in New York City: the two-star Atomix; Atoboy in NoMad; Naro in Rockefeller Center; and Seoul Salon in Koreatown.
After graduating with a degree in food science from Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea, Junghyun Park embarked on a long journey. He began his globetrotting odyssey in Finland on a serendipitous exchange programme and then immersed himself in European food culture. Park went on to travel to more than 30 countries.
He began working in world-renowned kitchens alongside renowned chefs such as Andrew McConnell at Cutler & Co, Cumulus Inc (Australia) and Brett Graham in London (The Ledbury, UK). During this personal re-examination of Korean cuisine, he was introduced to the idea of "New Korean Cuisine" under the tutelage of Chef Jungsik Yim of Jungsik Dang in Seoul. He soon moved to New York to become chef de cuisine at Jungsik in Tribeca.
He later opened Atoboy and then Atomix, where diners can immerse themselves in Chef Park's cuisine through a tasting menu inspired by Korean traditions and techniques. Today, Junghyun "JP" Park is the owner and executive chef of Atoboy and Atomix in New York.
