Ismael Álvarez. Young producers
Ismael Álvarez, sommelier at Chispa*, will select some of the young producers making the headlines for a tasting on the present and future of the sector.
In his presentation, Ismael Álvarez, sommelier at Chispa*, will introduce six young talents in Spanish winemaking, who are revitalising the sector with innovative projects, committed to their territories, sometimes as heirs, sometimes as entrepreneurs. From Catalonia to the Canary Islands, through Rioja, Bierzo, the Sierra de Gredos and Jumilla, each participant will present their own unique approach.
- Catalonia: The guys from Cisteller put the emphasis on autochthonous varieties and become the 13th and youngest winery in Corpinnat.
- Rioja: José Gil and Vicky Fernández will show us the diversity of the villages of a varied Rioja Alta.
- El Bierzo: César Márquez revives and renews the family tradition, also in an independent way, in a region whose territory is marked by the hierarchy of its soils.
- Sierra de Gredos: Bárbara Requejo and Guzmán Sánchez, of Bodegas Las Pedreras, are working to save vineyards and traditions in a depopulated rural area.
- Jumilla: Bodegas Cerrón is renewing the area with its Stratum range, rescuing historic vineyards and creating cult wines such as El Cerrico.
- Canary Islands: Carmelo Peña is leading the recovery of the high altitude vineyards of Gran Canaria, preserving a unique wine culture.
